SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA IN MANY TENDERS – AGAIN THIS YEAR

Amgros is well underway with this year’s major tender round for hospital medicines. Once again this year, we are setting a record for the number of sub-agreements with sustainability criteria – and thereby contributing to a more sustainable supply.

12. MAY 2026

At Amgros, we have a clear ambition to contribute to a greener future. We have now published national tenders with sustainability criteria for the sixth consecutive year. This gives suppliers the opportunity to compete on more than just the lowest price. At the same time, it means that suppliers must consider more than price alone when submitting tenders.

This time, the criteria are included in 358 tendered sub-agreements, compared with 305 last year. So once again, we are setting a new record for the number of sub-agreements with sustainability criteria. We are tendering approximately 830 sub-agreements in this year’s major tender round.

- Amgros supplies pharmaceuticals to public hospitals worth approximately DKK 10 billion every year. With that position, we can and want to contribute to a greener future. That is why we are pleased that this year’s major tender round includes even more sub-agreements with sustainability criteria, says Flemming Sonne, CEO of Amgros.

With these criteria, Amgros aims to help combat antimicrobial resistance in the supply chain, reduce the amount of packaging and promote recyclable materials, and reduce the climate footprint of medicines, the production of sterile water and last-mile transport.

THE SAME CRITERIA AS LAST YEAR

The sustainability criteria in this year’s major tender round are the same as those we have used in previous years – but they are now included in even more tenders. The criteria are therefore well known – with a few adjustments – because we have already presented them to suppliers in the past.

New this year, we have attached a document to each tender with sustainability criteria in which the criteria have been translated into English. This has been requested by suppliers. The idea is to make it easier for suppliers to collect the information needed to respond to the sustainability criteria.

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET STARTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

This time as well, Amgros is allowing a longer deadline for submitting tenders because the tenders include sustainability criteria. The deadline has been extended from the typical 45 days to 60 days.

We encourage our suppliers to begin reviewing the criteria and collecting the necessary documentation as soon as possible so that they are able to respond to the criteria.

- We know that many suppliers work strategically with sustainability – and devote significant effort to it. Naturally, we want to recognise that work. This requires suppliers to spend time obtaining the information we request in the sustainability criteria. So my encouragement is: Start well in advance, says Flemming Sonne, CEO of Amgros.

The deadlines for submitting tenders for Amgros’ tenders with sustainability criteria are 19 May, 27 May and 16 June 2026 at 12:00 noon, respectively. Please note the deadline stated in the specific tender.
